- ➤ Girl Scout Cookie season returns with a new Exploremores cookie — a treat made with chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond creme — and families can use the Cookie Finder on Girl Scouts website to locate sales in Lansing. WJIM AM

- ➤ Bubbakoo’s Burritos will open on January 30 at 3101 E Saginaw Street, replacing the old Big John's Steak & Onion. The fast-casual fusion eatery will serve American, Asian & Mexican dishes. WJIM AM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a state holiday on Jan. 19 and Lansing will mark it with a celebration at the Lansing Center at 11 a.m. Other Michigan events include rallies, lectures, and service opportunities to honor Dr. King’s legacy. Lansing State Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Last fall, the DNR stocked over 640,000 fish at 76 locations as part of a nearly 19.5 million fish effort in Michigan. The agency used special vehicles to deliver live fish & support fishing opportunities in state waters. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ Meridian Township will host a celebration of life for former supervisor Patricia Herring Jackson on Jan. 26 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the township hall (5151 Marsh Road) to honor her 25 years of public service. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ Local ice skating offers fun winter outings for residents. Munn Ice Arena hosts sessions on select dates starting Saturday, Jan. 10 with entry at $7 + discounts for MSU members, while Biggby Coffee Ice Cube holds pre-registered sessions through February for $10. WJIM AM

- ➤ Carson Cooper went 6-for-6 with 18 points to lead MSU to a 76-66 win over Northwestern on Thursday, Jan. 8 in East Lansing. The Spartans rallied after an early setback and will face Indiana Tuesday at 7 p.m. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Michigan State women beat Washington at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle on Thursday, Jan. 8, with Rashunda Jones earning her first career double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds) to push a seven-game win streak.
