CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Gilchrist declared January as Muslim American Heritage Month in a proclamation honoring the contributions of American Muslims. Michigan, home to a large and diverse community in Dearborn and Hamtramck, offers museum exhibits and mosque programs to celebrate this heritage. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Officials expect to open a new building on the site of the Ovation concert venue in March while construction on the full facility begins later in 2026 — a project aimed at enhancing downtown arts and culture. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ The MSU Museum reopened on Wednesday, Jan. 14 with the 'Blurred Realities' exhibit on the Michigan State campus — a project that followed an 18-month, $28 million renovation of the historic space established in 1857. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ CHAARG and UAB hosted 'Claw Clips and Soda Sips' on Wednesday (6 to 8 p.m.) in the Union Ballroom to introduce students to club activities and wellness with crafts and a soda bar; the event kickstarted CHAARG’s recruitment period for the new semester. The State News
