- ➤ The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan held its 41st Annual Day of Celebration at the Lansing Center Monday, Jan. 19, where local leaders delivered awards and speeches accompanied by a performance from the Detroit Youth Choir. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ Lansing officials enacted a Code Blue winter weather plan for the week, expanding shelter capacity from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.—and the Capital Area Transportation Authority is offering free rides to warming centers as temperatures dip into the low teens with wind chills below zero. Stacks 92.1

- ➤ Michigan State University announced Monday morning the sudden passing of Dan Sturges, its director of hockey operations since 2019—he also coached Colorado’s ACHA teams and earned accolades in the Big Mountain Hockey Conference.
