- ➤ Michigan marks 100 years of Black History Month this February with a proclamation by Gov. Whitmer and Lt. Gov. - ➤ A Lansing mentoring program created by mothers grieving gun violence secured a $900,000 federal grant to expand its support in four schools + launch after-school and summer programs. - ➤ Humane World for Animals sued the Michigan Natural Resources Commission on Tuesday in Ingham County Circuit Court after the Jan. 14 vote allowed coyotes to be killed year-round for any reason; the suit argues the decision lacked a sound scientific basis and seeks to restore a three-month quiet period. - ➤ Michigan announced a $173 million federal funding package to boost rural health care by expanding community health worker programs.
