CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local musician and poet Dennis Hinrichsen performed an experimental album, Day Zero Breakdown, with Worm Moon and bioPrism at RCAH Theatre on Wednesday — later he held a book signing for his new work, Dementia Lyrics, at Lookout! Gallery. The event highlighted Lansing’s creative blend of poetry and electronic music with an environmental message. The State News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Barnes, an MSU graduate student, created a simulation that shows how snowman-shaped Kuiper Belt objects (contact binaries) form through gravitational collapse. His study, published in the March edition of Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, supports natural formation without rare collisions. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Two former MSU students donated $26.25 million to boost learning at the Eli Broad College of Business and support student programs at the College of Social Science. The gift was announced on Feb. 24 and will fund long-term academic initiatives. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Okemos Public Schools named finalists Lori Haven and Matt Olson after initial interviews as they schedule final interviews, community meet and greet, and building tours on March 17; superintendent John Hood retires on March 25 after over 30 years with the district (recorded interviews and candidate portfolios are available online). - ➤ High school seniors can apply for LAFCU's Write to Educate Essay Contest, which awards $5,000 scholarships and $500 for a charity of choice. Applications are open through March 31 as students are invited to submit a 500 word essay on issues facing their community. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ Tribal members described a report on Native American boarding schools as flawed during a Thursday hearing with state lawmakers, noting that the 300-page document detailed abuse, coercion, and identity erasure in schools as recently as the 1980s and urging further investigation and support for survivors + changes in oversight. - ➤ Michigan State hockey will host Ohio State today at 8:30 p.m. at Munn Ice Arena in its final regular-season home series, with a series finale scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network as the Spartans aim to clinch the conference title. The State News
