- ➤ The Michigan Princess riverboat was being demolished at Grand River Park in Lansing on Friday, Feb. 27. Workers dismantled the vessel, ending its years-long presence on the river. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ The Michigan Princess riverboat (debuted in 1991) that carried over 500,000 passengers was dismantled at Grand River Park following irreparable damage sustained in late 2024. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ The Women's Center of Greater Lansing is out of essential hygiene products like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and body wash, and it is asking neighbors for donations to help meet daily needs (it distributes over 200 items each day). FOX 47

- ➤ Michigan drivers in Walmart's (Spark program) who were misled over delivery tips will receive up to $890,000 from a $100 million settlement reached on Feb. 26. The deal also requires Walmart to run an earnings verification program for 10 years. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ Historian Abdur-Rahman Muhammad explained how early hardships in Lansing shaped Malcolm X’s path in civil rights (his childhood home on Vincent Court now has a historical marker) and left a lasting mark on his legacy. FOX 47
- ➤ Mary Ann and China Pettway, quilt makers from Gee's Bend, spoke at the College of Osteopathic Medicine event on Feb. 26 at MSU. They explained how quilting preserves Civil Rights history and passes down a treasured family tradition, with commissioned pieces now available. The State News
- ➤ Lansing residents can enjoy two big events in March: Brrs, Beards & Brews, an adults-only lumberjack festival on March 7 along Turner Street in Old Town, and the 51st Annual Maple Syrup Festival at Fenner Nature Center featuring pancakes and family activities. WJIM AM

- ➤ Michigan beekeepers are preparing for the spring pollination season today after a record 40% national winter loss; the Michigan Beekeepers Association held its Spring Conference in East Lansing to discuss hive care strategies (including installing package bees and boosting local queen stocks) to support honey production and crop yields. - ➤ Michigan Treasury has issued around $565 million in tax refunds this year after processing over 1.6 million returns, with most taxpayers expecting their money within four to six weeks.
