- ➤ Charlotte Public Schools removed students from classrooms after bed bugs were found, and officials hired a pest control company and scheduled a K-9 inspection — they also notified affected households as health officials said the pests pose no public health threat. WJIM AM

- ➤ The Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved a seven-month coyote management season from March 2 to October 14 to address overabundant coyotes that threaten pets + livestock and rural areas; hunting is allowed on public and private lands with restrictions and proper licenses for nonresidents. - ➤ On Friday, Feb. 27, Michigan's Mega Millions drawing showed no winning ticket when numbers 11, 18, 39, 43, 67 and Mega Ball 23 were drawn and the $458 million jackpot went unclaimed + ticket sales in Michigan close at 10:45 p.m. for Tuesday, March 3's drawing. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ MDOT confirmed a plan for a roundabout at the intersection of M-21 and Scott Road in St. Johns as part of a $15 million project set for 2029 — local business owners and leaders say they prefer a four-way stop or traffic signal to keep traffic flowing and protect business. WJIM AM

- ➤ Eaton Rapids’ Wildside Rehabilitation Center reported that two bald eagles died from lead poisoning this winter — a fourth bird admitted on Feb. 24 is still fighting to recover as officials warn even a grain of lead can be lethal. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ The Michigan State hockey team earned an extra point in a shootout win over Ohio State on Saturday, Feb. 28 after coming back from two one-goal deficits, and they will need three points in upcoming games against Minnesota to secure a Big Ten title. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Eaton Rapids wrestling team finished as Division 2 state runner-up on Feb. 28 at Wings Event Center. The Greyhounds lost 62-4 to Lowell after defeating Three Rivers in the semifinal (their best finish since 2015). Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Michigan State's young players ended a seven-game road losing streak with a 76-74 win over Purdue on Feb. 26 at Mackey Arena. Coach Tom Izzo said the team builds hope ahead of the Big Ten Tournament starting Tuesday, March 10 in Chicago. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Michigan State’s men’s basketball team plays Indiana today at 3:45 p.m. at Assembly Hall after a recent win improved their tournament standing, while Indiana, coming off three losses, is looking to strengthen its defense (experts say an early offensive push could shift momentum).
