EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ East Lansing police are investigating an online threat against MacDonald Middle School while classes continue today with extra officers patrolling during student arrivals. Officials said the suspected individual does not attend the district, and the investigation is ongoing following a student's call on Feb. 28 (details are under review). Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Michigan public schools are set to begin spring break with Lansing Public Schools taking a break March 30 - April 3, while several districts extend their vacation through April 10. Lansing State Journal
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Saturday's Powerball drawing ended without a winner, raising the jackpot from $237 million to at least $249 million for today's 10:59 p.m. drawing+ Michigan ticket sales close at 9:45 p.m. before play. Lansing State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State wildlife rules change as the Michigan Natural Resources Commission starts a new coyote management season today until Oct. 14 — hunting and trapping end March 1 and restrictions apply in state parks and for dog use from mid-April to early July. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Michigan State beat Indiana 77 to 64 on March 1 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. With standout performances from Kur Teng (who scored 18 points) and Jaxon Kohler (who hit 21 points), the Spartans now await Thursday's matchup with Rutgers to secure a double bye for the Big Ten Tournament. - ➤ Michigan State women's basketball is the No. 7 seed for the Big Ten tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
