  • Capital Area District Libraries features six selected titles that highlight women's roles throughout history for Women’s History Month, including works from fiction + nonfiction genres. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Michigan ranks among the top 10 states with high gas prices, as gas stations in the Lansing and East Lansing area charged an average of $3.675 per gallon on Tuesday, March 10, according to AAA data.  Lansing State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lansing police issued citations yesterday to drivers who parked on sidewalks, noting fines start at $40 and increase if unpaid. Officials stressed the rule is vital to keep sidewalks clear for pedestrians (including those with disabilities, children, and seniors).  Lansing State Journal
  • Lansing City Council will hold a public hearing on the sale agreement for Deep Green’s proposal to build a 25,000-sqft data center downtown, with the sale discussion on Monday, Mar. 23 and the conditional rezoning request set for Monday, Apr. 6 when a final vote may follow.  Lansing State Journal
  • Public safety officials urge mid-Michigan residents to use multiple alert methods such as weather apps and emergency radios after Friday's tornadoes left four dead and 12 injured in southwest Michigan. Ingham County tests its sirens monthly and has scheduled a Skywarn training in Lansing in April.  WKAR

  • Michigan's Yaxel Lendeborg was named unanimous Big Ten Player of the Year as he and MSU's Jeremy Fears Jr. earned first-team honors on Tuesday, Mar. 10. Coaches and media recognized the achievements during the season awards.  Lansing State Journal
  • On March 9, Greater Lansing girls teams earned spots in regional finals. Portland outscored Alma 70-29 and will face Flint Powers today at Alma at 5:30 p.m. while Pewamo-Westphalia and Stockbridge won in New Lothrop to secure Division 3 final berths at 7 p.m.  Lansing State Journal
  • MHSAA girls basketball regional finals begin today at 7 p.m. across several local venues following Monday's semifinal contests; regional champions will advance to quarterfinals at neutral sites before later rounds at Breslin Center.  Lansing State Journal
  • MSU's Jeremy Fears Jr. earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and Jaxon Kohler received an honorable mention on Tuesday afternoon, with senior center Carson Cooper recognized for sportsmanship. The Spartans will face a tournament opponent Friday in Chicago (they may play Minnesota, Rutgers or UCLA).  The State News
  • Michigan State Archery club trains at Demmer Shooting Sports and Education Center where indoor and outdoor ranges serve casual and competitive shooters; the club holds relaxed Sunday practices while its team – which claimed a recurve win – will host the Fall Classic in September and Indoor Nationals in February.  WKAR
