ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV early Saturday at Baker and South Cedar Streets in south Lansing—police said they arrived at 1:07 a.m., found no other serious injuries, and are investigating alcohol as a possible factor.  Lansing State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Board members announced Saturday that the Lansing Art Gallery and Education Center will close its doors at the end of April after 60 years because of financial struggles. A closing reception with local artwork and a silent auction of a sculpture by Mark Chatterley is scheduled for April 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.—marking one final tribute to its legacy.  Lansing State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New car seat laws to protect Michigan children will go into effect on April 2, and the rules will require infants and toddlers to ride rear-facing until age two, allow children ages two to five to ride with harnesses, require booster seats for ages five to eight, and mandate that kids under 13 sit in the back — violations may lead to hefty fines.  WJIM AM
