- ➤ Gas prices in Michigan increased 33¢ in one week to reach $3.92 per gallon — the highest since August 2023. Prices vary with Ann Arbor and Marquette at $3.95 and Traverse City offering the lowest at $3.75. Stacks 92.1
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Holt Public Schools Board of Education announced Friday that Hal Heard III is its new superintendent. He brings 13 years of experience (mostly as executive director of student services at Plymouth Canton Community Schools) to lead the district. Stacks 92.1
- ➤ Bridge Listens asked nine gubernatorial candidates how they would fix K‑12 schools by boosting reading skills, raising teacher pay and improving school accountability. Bridge reporters will host an online discussion on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. to explore their ideas. Bridge Michigan
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Taxpayers who cannot file by April 15 may request a federal or state extension to file by Oct. 15 — they must still pay any taxes owed by the original deadline to avoid penalties. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ UM Health-Sparrow Lansing will be honored Wednesday at noon by Gift of Life Michigan for its strong commitment to organ, eye and tissue donations in recognition of a leading donation culture that helped honor the wishes of dozens of donors, saving many lives. Stacks 92.1
- ➤ Hundreds of Lansing neighbors attended the Michigan Community Street Pet Clinic at Reutter Park Sunday for free veterinary care organized by an MSU student-run nonprofit. The event offered exams, pharmacy help, and grooming for pets to support families who could not otherwise afford these services. FOX 47
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Lansing Community College men's basketball won three straight games in Danville to finish seventh at the NJCAA Division II championships. The Stars scored over 90 points in every contest plus coach Mike Ingram praised their strong resilience after an early setback. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Michigan State women's tennis lost 4-1 to UCLA Sunday after winning a key doubles point but falling behind in singles; the team is 8-8 overall and will face Wisconsin on March 27. The State News
- ➤ MSU coach Tom Izzo said that Denham Wojcik will play through a torn labrum against UConn today and will have surgery when the season ends, while guard Divine Ugochukwu will not return this weekend due to a foot injury (he is unlikely to join the tournament). The State News
