EDUCATION NEWS

  • MSU students are advocating for a substance-free green space in the courtyard between Mason and Abbott Halls to support student recovery – a plan featuring new pathways, a pergola, and benches that university officials will soon review. The proposal follows ASMSU legislation passed last month.  The State News
  • Superintendent Sean Williams will retire from Eaton RESA at the end of this year after 27 years in public education — his successor Nate Leale, who began as deputy last month, will take over on Jan. 1 to ensure a smooth transition.   • DeWitt mail carrier Margo Powers—honored as a local hero—received a commendation letter read by USPS Michigan 2 District Manager Don Dombrow, Jr. for exceptional service.  Lansing State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Trader Joe's & Kroger in Michigan recalled Asian-style frozen foods after Ajinomoto Foods North America found glass in select products. Customers are advised to return or safely dispose of the items, and no injuries have been reported.  Lansing State Journal

  • Families traveling with kids for spring break are advised to pack practical items like mini sound machines + travel beds along with organizing tools to ease long drives and flights while keeping sleep routines, screen time, and snack breaks in mind during TSA screenings.  Lansing State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • MSU will face UConn in two NCAA Tournament matchups this week. The hockey team meets Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at DCU Center in Worcester while the men’s basketball squad takes on the Huskies Friday at 9:45 p.m. at Capital One Arena in Washington & aims for a Sweet 16 win.  The State News
  • A new study ranked Michigan third among the best fishing states in 2026 due to its vast Great Lakes, inland lakes and rivers — a jump from last year's ranking, while the study measured facilities, affordability and geography.  WJIM AM
  • Holt and Portland high school bowlers were named all-state by the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association on March 24 (including two boys and two girls recognized for state and regional placements).  Lansing State Journal
  • Michigan State hockey is set to rely on veteran leadership and enthusiastic freshmen as it prepares for the NCAA tournament; Coach Adam Nightingale said the team will build on past challenges (including a recent loss) by staying true to its identity.
