- ➤ Food insecurity is rising in Michigan — Lansing community kitchens and food pantries are increasing their services to help residents access food. The groups are adding new programs and longer service hours to meet a growing need. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Juan Antonio Cabrera—who rescued the Austin family from a house fire on Oct. 2—is set to receive the National Heroism Commendation Award from the Michigan Society of the Sons of the American Revolution next Saturday, and his brave actions helped protect nearby homes. WLNS

- ➤ MSU scientist Adam Moeser is studying how early life stress changes gut function and the immune system — his research shows that early weaning in pigs can alter mast cells — which may help find ways to prevent long-lasting illness. Michigan State University Today
- ➤ MSU researcher Guan-Hua (Scott) Tu and his team found that 911 calls may take much longer to connect in areas where weak cellular signals and strong Wi-Fi mix, with 90% of emergency calls failing to reach dispatch within two minutes.
