The Mackinac Bridge is closed because ice fell from storms in the north — a result of a state emergency declared by the governor — and the Michigan Department of Transportation said it does not know when the bridge will open again.

Consumers Energy is working 24/7 to restore power after severe storms left nearly 140,000 customers without electricity statewide and about 200 in Lansing lost power when lightning knocked down six poles.

The company said most customers will have power restored by Tuesday evening while crews prepare for additional storms later this week.
