- ➤ A new study found Michigan public school buildings need $22.8 billion for repairs (with $5.3 billion needed in the next three years) to fix key issues such as failing HVAC systems and roofs. - ➤ Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and 23 states filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for stopping nearly ($11 billion) in public health grants, including ($379.3 million) for Michigan; the suit seeks a temporary restraining order to halt cuts that affect mental health care, substance abuse support, infectious disease control, and child immunizations. - ➤ State lawmakers say Michigan roads need repair but do not have enough funds to cover all fixes. House Speaker Matt Hall passed a bipartisan plan — without raising taxes — to fund local repairs while Representative Carol Glanville and Gov. Whitmer warned that cuts and fee hikes might be needed.
