BUSINESS NEWS

  • Rising gas prices near $4 per gallon have allowed one local EV owner to cut fuel costs by 75% after switching last September, while Evergetic Charging Spa sees daily visitors drop from 10-12 to about 5-6 cars (first-time drivers make up much of the shift).  FOX 47

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country on the River Music Festival will take place on August 1 at Fish Ladder Music Park (Old Town) along the riverfront at sunset. The free event offers two stages of local and regional country artists (including noted performers).  WJIM AM
  • Lansing hosts a weekend of live music with Move House at Green Door and the Kait Rose Fleetwood Mac Tribute at Grewal Hall. Doors open at 10 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, offering fans an interactive experience and a nostalgic musical treat.  Lansing State Journal
  • Lansing Symphony Orchestra has selected five finalists to replace Timothy Muffitt, who ends his 20th season with a final concert May 15. The finalists are +Scott Seaton, Yue Bao, Joshua Gersen, Shizuo Kuwahara, and James Blachly+; they will lead residency sessions starting Oct. 2 with director named this summer.  WKAR

  • MSU alum and radio host Rebecca Hector spoke at MSU on March 30, sharing her unique journey from an English degree to a career in radio — inspiring students to explore new paths and seize internship opportunities.  The State News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Three peregrine falcon eggs were found at the nesting box at the Eckert Power Plant, continuing the conservation program started in 2004. The eggs will begin a 35-day incubation period & residents can watch live on BWL’s YouTube channel.  WKAR

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City officials said renovations will begin soon at a red-tagged south Lansing apartment complex, with about two dozen units expected to be available for rent by September — a project aimed at improving local housing options.  Lansing State Journal

  • Michigan State University will host its football Spring Showcase on Saturday, Apr. 18 at Spartan Stadium. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. and visitors will enjoy team photos, practice scrimmages, and autographs with free admission & parking.  Stacks 92.1
  • Lansing’s baseball history spans nearly 140 years from the Farmers in 1889 to the Senators and Lancers, with the Lugnuts marking their 30th season with Opening Day this week. Local archives note that pioneer Bud Fowler played for the Senators in 1895.  WKAR
