  • Al Wilson was named executive editor of the Lansing State Journal on April 5 by USA Today Co (he served as interim editor since September and has worked 35 years in journalism), and he vows to continue strong local and regional news coverage.  Lansing State Journal
  • Lansing’s food scene is growing with over 20 planned restaurant openings already underway this year — including returning favorites like Fidler’s on the Grand and new spots such as PetalPop Cafe and Shake Shack that opened in February and March.   • MSU (the university) officials stress that clear information is available to help students navigate off-campus housing options across nearby communities, including using the Off-Campus Life website for guidance on leases and renters’ rights. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, heavy rain produced 2.6 inches over three days that led to flooding in Greater Lansing, with city pumps and road closures in place while residents reported wet streets and basements. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Whitmer signed Executive Order 2026-4 today to ease fuel blend rules via an EPA waiver, allowing gas stations in areas like Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb to offer gas that may drop prices by 10 to 20 cents per gallon.
