CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police shot and killed a man on US-127 near Barnes Rd in Vevay Twp today around 4:00 p.m. after he was reported walking the wrong way and then pulled multiple knives during a confrontation; one officer was injured, Michigan State Police will investigate the incident, and the freeway remains closed. - ➤ A Michigan State Police trooper located a missing 2-year-old in a ditch near I-94 in Jackson County on Saturday after the child had been missing for over an hour while wearing only a diaper—he coordinated with officers on the ground to secure the child—who was not injured and was taken to Henry Ford Hospital. - ➤ A bridal shop in East Lansing hosted its 3rd annual Quinceanera Expo to mark a major milestone for many Hispanic young women with a fashion show, vendor booths, catering, and a mariachi performance. Organizers said the event, led by Pierre’s Bride, Tuxedo, and Bride and Events 2 Envy, aimed to honor cultural traditions—supporting Latino-owned businesses in the community. WLNS
- ➤ Chicago — the longest-running Broadway musical — will open tomorrow at Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts at Cobb Great Hall and run until April 13. It is directed by David Hyslop and features choreography by Gregory Butler. The State News

- ➤ Aldi will expand in Michigan and across the nation by opening over 225 new stores as part of its five-year growth plan. The chain plans two new stores on the east side and one in Lansing Township, while new locations in Hillsdale, Rochester Hills and Midland will add 27 full-time jobs — offering competitive wages, health insurance and paid time off. - ➤ At its April 11 meeting, the MSU board will vote on the Spartan Gateway District project that would let the school develop retail shops, restaurants, a hotel and a 6,000-seat Olympic sports venue near the under-construction Student Wellness Center. The board will also vote on campus policy changes, including rescinding a redundant student conduct rule and revising its performance evaluation timeline. The State News

- ➤ An irrigation aqueduct on a Charlotte property opened into a sinkhole in a wheat field near Benton Rd. and East Vermontville Hwy after neighbor Ryan Garn reported ground cracks on March 18. Eaton County inspected the sinkhole today—finding it to be about 12—14 feet deep with four additional risk spots and is working to fix the hazard. WLNS

- ➤ Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo is rebuilding his 2025-26 roster after three players transferred—he is working the phones to add depth in the post and on the wing.
