- ➤ A new Planet Fitness is set to open on Lansing’s northside at the Heights at Eastwood lifestyle center at 2435 Showtime Drive in late 2025—this 20,177 square-foot facility will be the fourth mid-Michigan location. Stacks 92.1
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, April 6, officers on U.S. 127 near Barnes Road shot and killed a man after he became noncompliant and produced multiple knives during a 911 call about a freeway hazard (Michigan State Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, MSU and Consumers Energy celebrated a partnership by awarding $250,000 to help college graduates start their careers in Michigan at a ceremony in the redesigned lobby of MSU's East Wilson Hall. The funding supports the College of Engineering’s CoRe program—an integrated learning and living community—that offers tutoring, corporate tours and academic advising for future engineers. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ City leaders held a groundbreaking today for Tower on the Grand, a planned 320-foot building with 28 stories of retail and residential space in downtown Lansing. Developers say the project will include (335,000 square feet with an attached parking garage and nearly one acre of outdoor space) and will bring millions in construction costs to local workers as it nears completion in a little more than two years. - ➤ Fowler’s senior Katie Spicer earned a second Michigan Sports Writers all-state first team honor after leading the girls basketball team to a Division 4 state championship this winter, averaging 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.1 steals; the Eagles finished the season 27-2 with key wins in the state semifinal and final.
