CRIME NEWS

  • Lansing police are asking the public to help locate 92-year-old Sharif Hassan — who is considered endangered after he was last seen on April 10th in the 3200 block of South Washington Avenue.  Lansing State Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Local leaders and neighbors say salaries are not keeping up with rising living costs—residents like Rosalyn Williams told us that working multiple jobs still leaves them living paycheck to paycheck while Wendy Block from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce said local businesses are also feeling the pinch. This trend shows that both households and businesses are struggling as prices continue to climb.  FOX 47

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ryan Anderson— a case manager at Holt High School— has been chosen for the weekly Excellence in Education award from the Michigan Lottery and will get a $2,000 prize while also being eligible for Educator of the Year at the end of the school year. He earned his bachelor's from Central Michigan University and his master's from Madonna University and has taught for 19 years, using his own student experiences in his work.  Stacks 92.1
  • On February 10, a conservative MSU student shared an image of professor Bryan Ellis's slide about hockey player numbers to challenge what he said was a lesson full of bias. His post has sparked a campus debate about fair teaching and academic freedom.  The State News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ingham County health officials confirmed Monday that a one-year-old girl has measles after she traveled out of state. She visited a Tractor Supply store on April 4 and the Michigan State University Community Music School on April 8 — officials say getting the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine is the best protection since the virus spreads quickly.  Lansing State Journal
