COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Munn Ice Arena hosted a 24-hour hockey game from April 18 to 19 to raise funds for pediatric cancer families, sponsored by LivFree. Over 90 players competed, and the event helped 35 local families get support from area hospitals.  The State News
  • Local pot shops offer 4/20 deals today that include food discounts and marijuana specials available through the holiday — consumers can visit Lansing-area dispensaries and eateries to take advantage of the offers.  Lansing State Journal

  • Votes in WKAR and City Pulse’s 2025 Top of the Town contest have chosen the top 5 Irish restaurants in town. The list features Dublin Square (327 Abbot Road, East Lansing) and Harry’s Place (404 N. Verlinden Ave) with varied dining hours.  Lansing City Pulse

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sunday, 7,250 delegates met at Huntington Place in Detroit for the state party endorsement convention, where almost every candidate backed by the Progressive Caucus won their races + including Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist in the Secretary of State contest, boosting their momentum for the upcoming elections.  WKAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • MSU men's tennis won its first Big Ten title since 1967 with a 4-1 win over Purdue on Sunday morning at MSU's indoor courts. Senior Ozan Baris clinched the match as the team finished conference play at 12-1 and secured a spot in the NCAA tournament.  The State News
  • MSU football fans saw new head coach Pat Fitzgerald and his first team make their debut at Spartan Stadium Saturday during the Spring Showcase. The event also featured Zeke the Wonderdog V, Cindy Lou, marking her historic first appearance as the female mascot.  FOX 47
  • Michigan State announced on January 20, 2026 that Cindy Lou is the first female Zeke the Wonderdog. The 7-year-old has trained to catch frisbees for fans and will continue a tradition that began in 1977 (after Buckshot passed away).  WJIM AM
