- ➤ Lansing City Council has a crowded race with ten candidates for two at-large seats and key contests for Ward 2 and Ward 4, with no incumbents running for their current seats. Sitting council member Jeremy Garza is seeking an at-large seat while Peter Spadafore is switching to a Ward 4 race* and voters will start voting in late June before an August primary narrows the field. - ➤ Governor Whitmer is asking FEMA for an extension on her major disaster declaration request to give local jurisdictions time to complete response tasks after a March ice storm knocked out power and communications in parts of the northern and Upper Peninsulas.
