- ➤ The Lansing Symphony Orchestra will begin its 2025-‘26 season with Timothy Muffitt’s final season as music director after twenty years — the program opens Oct. 4 with Jocelyn Hagen’s work and will include guest soloists like Ray Chen and Jon Nakamatsu. The season will also feature Holst’s 'The Planets,' a new marimba concerto on March 27, and world premieres marking farewells for both Muffitt and composer-in-residence Jared Miller. - ➤ Raymond Musiima, a second-year MBA student at MSU, is leading a global effort to improve campus safety by partnering with Makerere University—he is adapting his school’s prevention model to fight relationship violence and sexual misconduct. - ➤ The Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center is hosting its 50th Anniversary Open House today from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lansing Community College’s West Campus, where current and former students and industry partners will be on hand for interviews — with displays featuring CTE Mobile Labs including the SkyLab Aviation Mobile Lab. - ➤ Michigan DNR announced that trout season and Lower Peninsula walleye and northern pike seasons open April 26 while statewide fishing began April 1, and anyone 17 and older must purchase a fishing license — resident licenses cost $26 and nonresident licenses cost $76 and are valid until March 31. - ➤ A new program in Lansing called the 100 Families Initiative has launched today to help families in crisis by coordinating support from nonprofits, churches, schools and government agencies—offering services for housing, employment, food, transportation and addiction recovery. The initiative, adapted from an Arkansas program that served over 3,000 households, set an initial goal to aid 100 families and is expected to continue past that target. WKAR
- ➤ Lansing began construction on a new 65,000-square-foot City Hall on Grand Avenue — it will have a first-floor service center and council chambers — with $40 million in funds as work started on April 23 and is set to finish by the end of 2026. When city offices move, the current hall will be turned into a hotel — a plan made after many years of delays — marking a big change in city services. Lansing State Journal

- ➤ MSU researchers advanced cancer research with breakthroughs on several fronts — they developed targeted therapies for pancreatic, breast and brain cancers and pioneered using bee sensors to detect lung cancer.
