- ➤ A five-vehicle crash on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Pierce Road injured 13 people — including two critically injured — when two speeding vehicles collided with a turning driver at 8:30 p.m. on April 24. Lansing State Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Arbaugh's, Lansing's first department store, opened in 1891 at 401 S. Washington and had several names before closing in 1972. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Four Lansing area school districts including St. Johns, Perry, Laingsburg and Webberville have tax proposals on the May 6 ballot with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. St. Johns seeks nearly $100 million for infrastructure upgrades while Perry plans to borrow $19.65 million for building improvements and Laingsburg and Webberville propose measures to renew or create millages—voters must have absentee ballots received by 8 p.m. to be counted. - ➤ Christina Brogdon, the fired MSU HR chief, is under investigation for alleged misconduct after a whistleblower claimed she had a junior staffer retrieve confidential files and spoke harshly about employees. Records show she faced similar issues at UWG when her staff broke confidentiality plus her leadership was reported to harm staff morale before she resigned. The State News
