COMMUNITY NEWS

  • MSU student Sean Egan died on April 23 after a long battle with cancer—he fought the disease three times—while his community painted the Rock at MSU to honor his enduring spirit.  The State News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Twelve of the 13 injured in last week's street racing crash on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard were released from the hospital while one remains in critical condition and no arrests have been made—city officials are evaluating increased patrols to curb street racing.  Lansing State Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Michigan Environmental Council is planning to put changes to the bottle bill on the 2026 ballot—aiming to add more returnable containers and revise how unredeemed deposits fund recycling. The council is consulting with retailers, bottle producers, and environmental advocates as it works to build support for updating the 1976 law on its 50th anniversary.  WKAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • A new ranking of Michigan State basketball players shows that freshman Jase Richardson is placed at No. 44 for his strong play in the Big Ten championship run—while senior Jaden Akins is recognized as a key player even with a lower rank. The list compares their recent contributions to those of past MSU legends.  Lansing State Journal
  • Michigan State football added two transfers—cornerback Anthony Pinnace and safety Tracy Revels—to its secondary for the 2025 roster. Pinnace, a native of Ypsilanti, transferred from Texas-San Antonio while Revels joined from Bowling Green with three years of eligibility remaining.  Lansing State Journal
  • Yesterday, over 7,500 people ran in the Izzo Legacy 5K at Spartan Stadium where Tom and Lupe Izzo greeted runners—photographers captured moments as participants enjoyed the event on the Michigan State campus.  Lansing State Journal
  • Michigan State’s men's golf team finished third at the Big Ten Championships after moving up five spots in the final round at Baltimore Country Club. The Spartans scored 10 over par in the final round to finish at 14 over par overall—showing strong effort in windy conditions.  Lansing State Journal
  • After the NFL draft ended Saturday, several former Michigan State football players began pursuing pro careers as undrafted free agents—joining NFL rookie minicamps or signing deals with teams. Lejond Cavazos, Khris Bogle, Maverick Hansen, Kay'Ron Lynch-Adams, Nate Carter, and Jonathan Kim will join groups like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, and Chicago Bears—marking multiple paths to the NFL.  Lansing State Journal
