COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ MSU student Sean Egan died on April 23 after a long battle with cancer—he fought the disease three times—while his community painted the Rock at MSU to honor his enduring spirit. The State News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Twelve of the 13 injured in last week's street racing crash on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard were released from the hospital while one remains in critical condition and no arrests have been made—city officials are evaluating increased patrols to curb street racing. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Michigan Environmental Council is planning to put changes to the bottle bill on the 2026 ballot—aiming to add more returnable containers and revise how unredeemed deposits fund recycling. The council is consulting with retailers, bottle producers, and environmental advocates as it works to build support for updating the 1976 law on its 50th anniversary. WKAR
