- ➤ Michigan drivers now pay much more to drive than they did five years ago. Insurance costs have risen (from $2,600 to $3,200) and gas taxes have doubled (from 26.3 to 52.4 cents per gallon) as gas now costs about $4.18 per gallon compared to roughly $3.30 in 2021. WJIM AM
