- ➤ Supporters gathered last night outside Sloan Onondaga Dragway to protest the May 1 closure ordered by Ingham County Circuit Court and back owner Woody Sloan’s plan to lower noise with a soil berm—police dispersed the group when vehicle noise grew too high. WLNS
- ➤ After 83 years, family members and officials interred the remains of Sgt. James Swartz in Summit Cemetery in Williamston Township—he survived the Bataan Death March and died in a Japanese POW camp during World War II, with his remains identified in 2024 through dental, anthropological, and DNA analysis—and about 40 relatives representing five generations attended the service. - ➤ Heartland Recreational Vehicles, a subsidiary of Thor Industries, announced it will close its Michigan plant in Sturgis on June 20th, affecting nearly 200 workers. - ➤ A new study from NYU Langone Health finds that exposure to di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, a chemical in common household plastics, is linked to heart disease deaths in homes here. Researchers advise choosing glass or stainless steel containers—alternatives that may lower future heart risks. WJIM AM
- ➤ The Dlesot Snap Hair Clips were recalled after tests found lead levels above federal limits—posing serious health risks, especially for young children. Amazon notified buyers from April and September 2024 to stop using the clips and seek a refund. WJIM AM

- ➤ On May 1, local prep sports brought many wins as Laingsburg softball beat Bath 11—3 with Addy Buchin going 3-for-3 and Laingsburg soccer won 3—0 over Dansville with Payge Woodworth scoring a goal and an assist. In other contests, Eaton Rapids won its tennis match over Charlotte, Lansing Catholic edged Okemos 11—10 in girls lacrosse, and a close golf match ended with Laingsburg scoring 187 while Dansville scored 200. - ➤ Senior golfers Brooke Biermann and Katie Lu will lead the MSU team in the Oklahoma Regional in Norman beginning Monday as the team aims to advance past the first three rounds of the NCAA championships.
