- ➤ Consumers Energy launched a 24-hour effort to restore power after storms knocked out electricity to over 216,000 homes and businesses — including nearly 22,000 in Lansing by 8:00 a.m. — and crews continue to work until conditions are safe. Stacks 92.1

- ➤ Downtown will host the 62nd Annual East Lansing Art Festival this weekend with more than 170 artists and thousands of visitors. The event runs today from 10 a.m. — 6 p.m. along M.A.C. Avenue and continues Sunday from 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. with live music, food, and street closures in place until 10 p.m. City of East Lansing

- ➤ Michigan State University and Choose Lansing will host the 2025 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals from May 19th to 25th with more than 600 teams and thousands of guests expected to visit local hotels and residence halls. The event will feature an opening ceremony on May 21st at the Breslin Student Events Center—competitions will follow on campus using several local facilities. Michigan State University Today

- ➤ Severe thunderstorms left more than 250,000 Michigan customers without power after storms hit parts of the state on May 15–16—electricity companies reported the worst outages in southwest Michigan. In Lansing, outage maps show 21,706 customers lost power as of early this morning. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Severe thunderstorms with hurricane-force winds knocked out power for over 259,000 customers across Michigan between May 15 and May 16 — Consumers Energy reported 187,000 outages while counties such as Kalamazoo, Ingham, Calhoun, and Muskegon experienced significant interruptions. Power companies now offer online maps and phone options for reporting downed lines and checking restoration updates. Lansing State Journal
