  • Sultans Mediterranean has opened a new location on Lansing’s West Side at 940 Elmwood Road, serving authentic Mediterranean dishes made from fresh ingredients. The restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 8 pm + Friday to Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm and will be closed on Sundays.  WJIM AM

  • Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel warned that scams using fake-jury summons and celebrity impersonation messages are rising in Michigan and urged residents to be cautious with unsolicited online requests.  WJIM AM

CULTURE NEWS

  • On May 14th, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum in East Lansing showed art from local and international artists including works by Mila Lynn, Megan Weaver and Claire E. Heiney. The museum also displayed its permanent collection of over 10,000 pieces—emphasizing its role as a key cultural venue on campus.  Lansing State Journal
  • The 62nd annual East Lansing Arts Festival began May 17 and ends today — it offers music, dancing, and art booths on M.A.C. Avenue and the university campus. Local summer events like the Christo Rey Church Fiesta and Lansing Beer Fest — will provide more community celebrations across Greater Lansing.  Lansing State Journal
  • Michigan State University’s Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum opened in 2012 — after two years of construction that cost $45 million to build.  Lansing State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Sen. Gary Peters toured the MSU research center on Friday and warned that uncertainty over federal research funding could let other countries+ easily recruit American experts. He said that without steady investment, rebuilding critical research would take years and weaken America’s lead in science.  WKAR

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Vietti Food Group recalled 4,515 cases of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses-Baked Beans sold at local stores including Meijer and Walmart—because the product did not declare soy ingredients that may harm people with allergies—Consumers with these cans can return them for a full refund, and no illnesses have been reported.  WJIM AM

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • A Lansing neighbor uses an unconventional hack—grating a bar of Irish Spring into shavings and scattering them around his yard—to repel skunks and keep the area smelling fresh. Experts say the trick may also deter deer, though the soap's scent fades over time and needs regular replacement.  WJIM AM
