  • Dennis Quinn, a Mason resident, volunteers to keep a small food pantry stocked and works at Mason Food Bank to help neighbors in need. He said he works on Tuesdays and sometimes Thursdays and will attend the upcoming Thursday Night Live concert to support a food drive—he noted the food bank needs items like peanut butter and protein.  FOX 47

  • MSU will host free outdoor theatre on three weekends starting June 5 with family-friendly shows at the Summer Circle Courtyard while Riverwalk Theatre presents SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical from May 29 to June 8 and Sistrum will perform Our Mother, Our Home on May 30 and May 31 at The People’s Church—other events include a jazz and poetry session at Blue Owl Coffeeshop on June 1 and an interactive mystery dinner show at AC Hotel Lansing University Area starting May 24.  Lansing State Journal

  • Michigan State University President Kevin M. Guskiewicz named Laura Lee McIntyre as the school’s new provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in East Lansing—she will take over from interim provost Thomas D. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Michigan state parks show limited availability for Memorial Day weekend as many campgrounds are fully booked or closed for improvements, so campers should act quickly. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will increase fees for modern campsites and lodging on Aug. 1, with nightly rates rising by $4 to $10 for more consistent pricing.  Lansing State Journal
