BUSINESS NEWS

  • IONETIX Corporation will invest about $25.8 million in the Lansing area to expand production and distribution of cancer diagnostic and treatment products. The expansion will create 53 jobs starting at $25 an hour (after a $750,000 state grant and added workforce training support) and is set to boost the region’s capabilities.  Lansing State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lansing’s Concerts in the Park returns this summer with free live music in local parks every Wednesday from June through early August. The series will begin with Root Doctor at Moores Park on June 11 and include Grupo Dezeo at Wilson Park on July 30 and the Lansing Symphony Orchestra at Frances Park on August 6—each concert running for two hours from 7 to 9 p.m.  Lansing City Pulse

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brenda Tracy filed a lawsuit on June 3 claiming that MSU trustees leaked her name during the confidential investigation of her sexual harassment complaint against former football coach Mel Tucker—her attorney alleges the breach of confidentiality and conflict of interest policies harmed her emotionally. The suit, brought in Grand Rapids by her East Lansing counsel, seeks damages and injunctive relief to prevent future lapses.  Lansing State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting June 6, drivers on I-96 in Eaton and Ingham counties will face lane and ramp closures as the state finishes a three-year construction project. The major impacts include closures of the westbound ramp to northbound Lansing Road and both directions on Billwood Highway beneath the freeway from 7 a.m. until August 1—additionally, one lane on eastbound I-96 and the ramp from Lansing Road to eastbound I-96 will be closed on June 6.  Lansing State Journal
