- ➤ Ixion Ensemble will mark its 10th season with 'Thank you, Ten' by performing nine short plays by local writers at Stage One at Sycamore Creek Church from June 13 to June 22 — tickets are $15 at the door and shows run at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays. - ➤ Pumpstock festival will return to Bailey Park in East Lansing on Saturday at 2 p.m. with free American roots music, food, and family activities. - ➤ The East Lansing Public Library launches its Summer Reading Challenge today with the theme 'Color Our World' and asks readers to log 20 minutes of reading daily and 10 minutes for Pre-K challengers until Aug. 15. The library will host its Kickoff Party on June 9 from 5-7 p.m. at 950 Abbot Road—offering free ice cream, a chance to meet princesses, a dance with DJ Kevin, and arts and crafts. - ➤ Bipartisan bills in the Michigan House passed a committee on June 4th to let police use roadside saliva tests to detect drugs and check for driver impairment. If both bills pass, they will amend the Vehicle Code and take effect 90 days later + test results may be used as evidence in arrests. Michigan Public Radio
- ➤ A Michigan lawmaker, Rep. Noah Arbit, introduced a bill on June 4 that aims to update the state's civil rights law to include an explicit definition of antisemitism following recent attacks on Jewish communities. The proposal would add ethnicity as a protected class and use the IHRA working definition — it does not affect constitutionally protected free speech. Lansing State Journal
