- ➤ Michigan officials warn drivers that using handheld devices at red lights may break the distracted driving law and lead to fines of $100 to $250 along with 16 to 24 hours of community service - repeat offenders must complete a driving improvement course. - ➤ Today, the City of East Lansing begins new security measures at City Hall—neighbors must enter through the southwest entrance and pass a metal detector. Westbound Miller Road will see a lane shift for sewer repairs from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., and residents can set off fireworks on private property from June 29th to July 4th and on Saturday, July 5th.
