- ➤ The Village Lansing will launch a youth boxing program on July 28 to give kids ages 9 to 17 a safe space amid rising youth violence — elite boxer Michael Lynn III will lead the training as organizers seek donations and volunteers to support the effort. FOX 47

- ➤ Bath Township police released a 16-minute bodycam video showing how, on July 12, officers chased a suspect after he stabbed a resident and held another hostage during a break-in — the suspect was shot and stunned before being taken into custody, and two officers were placed on administrative leave amid a state police investigation. - ➤ City officials and NorthPoint Development are cleaning up 57 acres of land — the former GM Fisher Body Plant site using 19 million in state funding — as work continues into 2026 and 2027. They plan to redevelop the site as a manufacturing facility and will accept community input until 2026. FOX 47
- ➤ East Lansing residents who paid franchise fees on their Lansing Board of Water and Light bills from April 2, 2019 through April 2024 can file claims from a nearly $8 million settlement—claims must be submitted by September 2 with final approval expected in October. FOX 47
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ University of Michigan Health-Sparrow has partnered with Sheppard Pratt to manage its psychiatric services and build a new behavioral health hospital at the former Lansing Eastern High School site. The new facility—planned to open with 88 inpatient beds and expanded services for children, adolescents and adults in 2028—aims to address the growing need for care in Mid-Michigan.
