COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Magic Johnson returned to Lansing this weekend to host a car show at Union Missionary Baptist Church that honored his father and raised funds for local law enforcement and first responders—visitors came from across Michigan, including one man from Flint who brought his wife’s 1971 Chevelle. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sam’s Club customers in Michigan are advised to discard Member’s Mark Freeze-Dried Fruity Variety Packs—15-count boxes sold between July 1st and July 25th after Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions discovered Listeria contamination in 42 states—and return them for a full refund, as no illnesses have been reported.  WJIM AM
  • The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) said a Livingston County resident is the first person to get West Nile virus in Michigan this year, and mosquito illnesses are expected to peak in August and September. Health workers advise using bug spray (like DEET or picaridin) and wearing long sleeves to help stop bites.  Lansing State Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A study by Realtor.com finds that Michigan buyers need about $84,000 in annual income to afford a median-priced home in 2025, which is lower than in other states where mortgage rates and prices are high.
