- ➤ Andrial Ortiz, 30, faces 17 felony counts for resisting arrest, disarming police and shooting an officer after a traffic stop at an apartment complex in south Lansing on April 10, 2024 — the state Attorney General cleared the officer while Ortiz was arraigned on Aug. 8 on a $100,000 bond and his federal trial is set for Sept. 16. - ➤ Today, Michigan State University hosts the semifinals of the inaugural Ralph Votapek International Young Artist Competition in the MSU Music Building’s Cook Recital Hall, where ten young pianists from the U.S., Canada and China will perform for a share of over $10,000 in prize money. Masterclasses for non-advancing semifinalists occur Saturday at 1 p.m. and finals take place Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.—the public is invited to attend all free events. WKAR
