- ➤ McNamara Canoe Landing park in Mason offers a kayak and canoe dock, nature trails and a catch and release fishing pond at 6450 W. Columbia Road—Ingham County Parks charge a $3 fee for residents and a $5 fee for nonresidents. Lansing State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lansing School District is using a new curriculum—hands-on learning approaches as students will return to classrooms on August 20 to recover from 16 to 18 months out of school buildings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Superintendent Ben Shuldiner said graduation and reading rates are up, showing progress in overcoming past learning disruptions. FOX 47
- ➤ LingLong Wei, a former MSU student, filed a $100 million lawsuit against the university, claiming that hazardous pesticide exposure during her horticulture research led to her thyroid cancer and that her requests for protective equipment and proper training were ignored. Her attorneys said the negligence caused significant physical, emotional and financial harm while the suit seeks compensation for past and future losses. The State News
