  • Lansing police are asking anyone with information to help identify suspects after a 36-year-old man was fatally shot during a memorial gathering on Wilson Avenue on July 20—investigators are still searching for leads.  WJIM AM

  • Today, the MSU Board of Trustees authorized plans to build a permanent memorial—featuring a fountain, benches and plantings—in the Old Horticultural Garden near the Student Services Building to honor those affected by the Feb. 13 tragedy.  Michigan State University Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Scientists at Colossal Biosciences made dire wolf pups in a lab using DNA from fossils and blood from gray wolves — these pups weigh 80 lbs now and will grow to 140 lbs, but there are no plans to bring them to Michigan's Upper Peninsula soon.  WJIM AM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Researchers at San Diego State University and Michigan State University studied how viruses pack RNA tightly—showing that RNA properties help coat proteins form capsids that secure viral material. They scrambled MS2's genome to create different capsid shapes and sizes, which may help scientists design new antivirals and gene therapies.  Michigan State University Today
