CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 21-year-old Lansing man, Nathan Leslie Warner, faces felony charges for felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon after a knife incident at Ann Street Plaza on August 23—he was arraigned on August 25, released on a $2,500 bond, and has a probable cause conference set for Sept. 5 with a preliminary exam on Sept. 11. - ➤ Lansing police responded on August 28th before 4 a.m. to a report of a vehicle in the median of I-96 near Cedar Street where they found a woman with a gunshot wound in the back of her head—she was taken to a hospital in critical condition as investigators work to determine if road rage was involved. - ➤ U.S. News & World Report released its high school rankings and Okemos High School kept the top spot in the Lansing region while Pewamo-Westphalia moved into second and Holt Senior joined the Top 10. The report ranked schools based on graduation rates, test scores, & college readiness. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Today, the Lansing School District announced gains in student test scores on the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress — the results show improvements in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies across several grade levels. The press release detailed increases ranging from 1.6% to 10.1% as the district continues its focus on improving student performance. Stacks 92.1
