  • LSJ executive editor Stephanie Angel will retire on September 5 after more than 35 years in journalism and 27 years at the paper.   • After months of renovations, Constellation Cat Café opened on Saturday in Old Town Lansing. The venue now offers coffee and adoptable cats from local rescues—supporting its mission to find homes for cats in need.  FOX 47

HEALTH NEWS

  • Viva Raw has recalled two lots of frozen pet food after tests found Salmonella and Listeria contamination, so Michigan pet owners should check their freezers today—products sold online and at select retailers must be discarded safely.  WJIM AM
  • Hostess announced it is recalling Chocolate Ding Dongs with best-by dates August 30 to September 3 due to a possible mold risk from a factory malfunction that may have allowed mold to grow before packaging—consumers are advised to examine their pantries and discard any affected products.  WJIM AM

  • Munn Field tailgating returned on August 29 when new athletic director Jason 'J' Batt launched The Munn Tailgate—featuring a 517 Beer Garden and special tailgating spaces—that revived a tradition altered since the 1990s. Long-time tailgater Brian Russ joined fans who celebrated a familiar game-day experience.  The State News
  • Michigan freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood—top-ranked recruit from Belleville High School—flipped his commitment from LSU on November 21 and will start against New Mexico on Saturday. He said he chose Michigan for its education and to help his family and his debut is expected to boost the team’s play.  Lansing State Journal
