- ➤ The Michigan Chicken Wing Festival returned to Lansing's Adado Riverfront Park over the weekend with food from local vendors, live music and a drive to support Lillian's boutique that gives essential items to neighbors. - ➤ Drybar plans to open a new beauty hotspot in the Lansing area by early 2026—its potential sites include Lansing Township near Eastwood Towne Center and Meridian Township—and it will be the third Drybar in Michigan. WJIM AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Lansing Charter Commission has proposed changes to city government that will add a council seat and change election timing while ending regional representation on the BWL board—public meetings are scheduled in September before a vote is expected in November. Lansing State Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has stocked nearly 19 million fish at over 700 sites today to boost the fishing season for local anglers. - ➤ Michigan State Spartans opened their football season with a 23-6 win over Western Michigan on August 29—key plays came from quarterback Aidan Chiles and running back Makhi Frazier. - ➤ Kristen Kelsay began her MSU volleyball coaching career with two 3-0 wins over Merrimack on Saturday and Chicago State on Sunday, finishing her debut at 2-0.
