- ➤ City Rescue Mission of Lansing has opened Phase 1 of its expanded shelter for men — providing food, beds, clean clothes and a safe place to rest. Construction for the women’s wing is underway so that the shelter will serve up to 300 people by winter. FOX 47
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 51-year-old woman was shot in the head on I-96 at 3 a.m. last Thursday near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Cedar Street in a possible road rage incident—she is now stable in hospital while police continue to investigate the case. FOX 47
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ September in Michigan will bring cooler fall weather and many celebrations. Labor Day on Sept. 1 is the only federal holiday—while events like National Cheese Pizza Day on Sept. 5 and Michigan BluesFest in Lansing from Sept. 17—20 offer residents festive ways to welcome autumn. - ➤ Officials said on Sept. 2 that MSU transferred a 1903 Curved Dash Oldsmobile to the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum so local visitors can view an important part of Lansing’s auto history.
