ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A gas line hit during Michigan Ave construction forced the evacuation of UM Health-Sparrow, Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, and Plaza building today as Consumers Energy, Lansing Fire Department, and Lansing BWL work to restore the gas line while patients reschedule appointments.  FOX 47

CRIME NEWS

  • A 44-year-old Lansing man was shot in the face during a disturbance in Lansing Township near Wood Street near Sam’s Way on September 9 at 9:20 p.m.—he is in stable condition after emergency surgery while police investigate the incident and have arrested a 41-year-old woman with two firearms recovered from the scene.  FOX 47

CULTURE NEWS

  • Taylor Swift's new album 'The Life of a Showgirl' will drop on October 3 and 16 Michigan Target stores, including Okemos, will open at midnight for fans to buy special editions—featuring three exclusive CDs, a lyric booklet, and posters.  Lansing State Journal

  • The County Road Association of Michigan has released a guide to fall color drives across the state that shows routes in the Upper and Lower Peninsulas with color changes starting soon. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Michigan lawmakers are running out of days to reconcile billions in differences between House and Senate budget proposals for Fiscal Year 2026 that begins October 1. They must agree by September 30 to keep the state government open—Senate Appropriations Committee chairwoman Sarah Anthony urged lawmakers to show courage and creativity amid tough negotiations.  Stacks 92.1
  • Today, the City of Lansing reached a settlement with 65 retired firefighters that will cap their health care costs at 5% of the total expense—easing the financial burden for those who retired between 2014 and 2021.
