- ➤ Friday evening, artists George Thomas and Lydia Marie Hicks hosted a dinner reception at Snyder-Phillips Hall’s Lookout! Gallery to honor Idlewild — a historic Black resort town known as Black Eden — by unveiling their exhibit '4 George: An Idlewild Aenon' that has been on display since August 28 and will remain open until October 7. - ➤ Michigan's 2025 Liberty Hunt early figures show hunters self-reported 4,930 deer harvested on September 13 and 14 — with 3,786 antlered and 1,144 antlerless deer — though the DNR expects final numbers to rise due to typical underreporting. WJIM AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan lawmakers introduced Senate Bill 126 that could let voters decide in November 2026 if the state will end Daylight Saving Time. Under current rules, Michigan will set clocks back on November 2, 2025—if the measure passes, the state will remain on standard time year-round. WJIM AM
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Michigan State women’s volleyball finished the Kathy DeBoer Invitational undefeated at 10—0 with a 3—1 win over SIUE as coach Kristen Kelsay and standout Evie Doezema led the team. They will begin Big Ten play on Sept. 25 at 8:30 p.m.—traveling to Minnesota for their first conference road game. The State News
- ➤ Michigan State football lost linebacker Wayne Matthews III on Saturday, Sept. 20th when he was injured while attempting a tackle against USC—he was later placed on a backboard and taken by ambulance to a Level 1 trauma facility in Los Angeles. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ MSU men's soccer lost its Big Ten home opener to Ohio State with a score of 3–2 at DeMartin Stadium and dropped its first home defeat in conference play. The Spartans will play No.5 Indiana on Tuesday as they look to win their first Big Ten game this season. The State News
- ➤ Grand Ledge football rallied from behind to beat Holt 30-24 — the team scored late to secure the comeback win on Sept. 19. Lansing State Journal
