- ➤ The MSU Homecoming Parade took place on October 10—community members, students, alumni and local families watched the colorful event as it started near Abbot Road and ended at the Red Cedar Bridge. The parade featured the MSU ROTC, the Spartan Marching Band and unique displays from various local groups. The State News

- ➤ Yeti Kitchen at Lansing Shuffle will close on November 2. The popular Nepali eatery in Lansing is shutting its door as its owners—managing three locations—decided they could not keep all open. WJIM AM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Okemos' iconic neon shopping cart lady is offline for repairs and will be back in six to eight weeks—she will be relit with a celebration featuring music, food trucks, and glowing festivities. WJIM AM
- ➤ DaBaby delivered a 30-minute performance at Grewal Hall on Oct. 11 for MSU students after fans waited two hours at the door. He said his late arrival came after a stop at the team store to represent MSU and his set featured tracks from earlier albums and collaborations. The State News
- ➤ Disney’s musical Beauty and the Beast will open tomorrow at the Wharton Center in East Lansing. The touring production uses nine semi-trucks and adds 100 local workers when it arrives—bringing the classic show to new audiences. Lansing State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MSU Library offers free sewing machines, mending kits and 3D printing at the Hollander Makerspace so students can make Halloween costumes on campus + the Surplus Store holds weekly Upcycle Friday events from 11 to 3 p.m. and will host a Clothing Repair-A-Thon on October 24 while accepting public donations for costume supplies. - ➤ MSU now offers a class that uses Taylor Swift to help students learn about social sciences. The course covers topics like self-fashioning, fandom, and pop culture—giving all majors a chance to learn how society works. The State News

- ➤ Today, Governor Whitmer announced Michigan will celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day to honor Native cultures—federal officials will continue to observe Columbus Day in recognition of explorer Christopher Columbus. - ➤ Federal officials expanded a listeria recall on prepared pasta meals and deli salads sold in Michigan after tests linked Nate's Fine Foods pre-cooked pasta to at least 20 illnesses, 19 hospitalizations, and four deaths reported since 2024—Michigan shoppers are advised to check their fridges and discard or return any recalled items from retailers including Kroger, Walmart Marketside Meals, and Trader Joe's.
