- ➤ Eastside Fish Fry & Grill owner Henry Meyer in Lansing is preparing a half-off meal offer for SNAP users as food benefits may stop on Nov. 1 due to a government shutdown—about 40% of his customers rely on EBT. - ➤ A new Chick-Fil-A restaurant is being built on Lansing’s southside at a former car dealership site between Pennsylvania Avenue and Edgewood Boulevard so residents can avoid long drives to Okemos or Delta Township. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Michigan State University paused new admissions for at least 27 graduate programs due to budget cuts that required colleges to reduce spending. The College of Arts and Letters halted 22 of 24 programs so that new students will begin in Fall of 2027 — the change aims to protect current students and better manage funds. WKAR

- ➤ The Fair Food Network will expand its Double Up Food Bucks program starting Nov. 1 to help families using SNAP by matching up to $20 on fresh and frozen produce and removing the 90-day expiration rule—also offering a $40 voucher until supplies last. - ➤ The East Lansing Police Department reminds motorists to drive slowly tonight as children trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m. They urge parents to add reflective gear to costumes—drivers must use crosswalks and look both ways in residential areas. City of East Lansing
- ➤ Lansing voters, including first-time voter Chloe Gonyea and longtime resident Beatrice Carr, are naming homelessness, arts programs and food assistance as top priorities ahead of the general election. HEALTH NEWS
