- ➤ Michigan's state Christmas tree arrived at the Capitol from Sault Ste. Marie Saturday — Boy Scouts removed the ropes from the 68-foot spruce as it was set up for the Silver Bells celebration. FOX 47
- ➤ Michigan allocated $4.5 million for food banks in 83 counties to support families after SNAP benefits paused on November 1 — Governor Whitmer said the emergency funding was a stopgap measure while Congress worked on a long-term fix. WJIM AM

- ➤ Michigan State football lost 23-20 in overtime Saturday at Minnesota—controversial calls slowed the Spartans. The team tried a new quarterback and made key defensive stops, but injuries and a thin offensive line kept them from winning. Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Lansing Catholic girls won the Division 3 state championship at Michigan International Speedway on Nov. 1 — they finished 110 points ahead of runner-up Pewamo-Westphalia to claim their second straight title. - ➤ Senior Lucas Brandell returned two interceptions for touchdowns in DeWitt's playoff opener with a 70—13 win over Owosso on Oct. 31. He is tied for the team lead with six interceptions and said extra work in the weight room made him faster and more explosive while he enjoyed a friendly rivalry with teammate Jadon Bender. - ➤ Eight Greater Lansing teams are set to play in the second round of the MHSAA football playoffs; the matchups include Division 2 East Lansing at Midland Dow and Division 3 Linden at DeWitt - other games feature Haslett versus Williamston, Grand Rapids Christian versus Portland, North Muskegon versus Pewamo-Westphalia, Ithaca versus Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker and Mendon versus Portland St. Patrick.
