- ➤ Lansing’s Capital Area Salvation Army will host a sit-down Thanksgiving luncheon on Tuesday, November 25 from 12:00 p.m.—1:00 p.m. at its facility at 525 N. Pennsylvania Ave using the gym entrance off Linden Grove Ave, where neighbors and those in need will gather with Mayor Andy Schor. Stacks 92.1
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Lansing Emporium just opened on Turner Street in Old Town after Sweet Custom Jewelry moved, and the store sells consigned fashion and handmade items including mushroom tinctures by owner Monica Haladyna. It is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 7 p.m. — the shop will also offer DIY workshops soon. WJIM AM
- ➤ Michigan Christmas tree farms are doing well despite a summer drought as growers use irrigation systems to keep trees healthy and the state has 33,000 acres producing 2 million trees nationwide (Michigan is the third largest producer behind North Carolina and Oregon). Tannenbaum Farms in Mason plans a tree cutting on November 28 while Star Tree Farm will start displays on November 22. WKAR
- ➤ Wendy's announced it will close over 300 restaurants in Michigan starting in the fourth quarter of this year+ the company is working with franchisees to review each location and plan upgrades or transfers as closures continue into 2026. WJIM AM

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AAA has forecast record holiday travel for Thanksgiving with 2.6 million Michigan travelers predicted — 2.3 million of whom will drive—while heavy road congestion is expected on November 25 and return delays on November 30 through December 1; the association urged drivers to plan ahead by checking vehicle conditions before setting out. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Michigan's Pre-K for All program is growing — record statewide enrollment has been reported even as local centers in Lansing, including Little Dreamers Daycare Center, still offer open spots. Little Dreamers will open its first classroom on December 1 and families can apply for enrollment this year or next. FOX 47
- ➤ Pete Johnston, a Lansing man and MSU Film Studies faculty member who narrowly lost to Scott Ricciardi on Jeopardy on July 15, will return in the 2025 Second Chance Tournament starting Dec. 15—he is one of nine players in week 1 competing for a spot in the Tournament of Champions wild card round. - ➤ Michigan lawmaker Jason Woolford sponsored a bill that would require school board candidates to run with party labels, ending a nonpartisan tradition that has lasted over 100 years. Education groups warned the change may politicize local elections — the proposal now awaits action on the House floor. WKAR

- ➤ Jeremy Fears Jr. played his third Champions Classic game for Michigan State as the Spartans faced Kentucky at Madison Square Garden yesterday—he showed growing confidence on a big stage after overcoming past setbacks including limited minutes from injury.
