COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ After Thanksgiving, families visit Reverman Tree Farm in Grand Ledge to pick a real Christmas tree from 15,000 available options. The farm is open Fridays through Sundays and offers horse-drawn rides and treats — hot chocolate and candy canes — to keep the holiday tradition alive. FOX 47
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Michigan farmland prices increased by 7.8% last year—outpacing the national gain of 4.3%—as buyers convert land into residential and commercial sites, with average prices at $6,800 per acre versus up to $30,000 for development lots. Experts say the trend comes from a low supply of available farmland and growing urban demand. Bridge Michigan
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Photos taken at the Kuzma Natural Area on November 24 in Haslett show fall colors and a pond. The images capture train tracks, colorful leaves, and a park entrance (taken by Nick King) (from Lansing State Journal). Lansing State Journal
- ➤ Haslett's Kuzma Natural Area is a 0.32‑acre wetland donated in 2003 by the Judy A. Kuzma Trust — a small gift that now buffers storm runoff into Lake Lansing — and it marks one of Meridian Township’s smallest land preserves. The land offers no built trails or benches — visitors use deer paths while exploring the raw natural terrain and should wear waterproof shoes due to wet ground. Lansing State Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bird flu spread early in Europe and North America, with 107 outbreaks reported on U.S. farms by November 18—Michigan officials say they are watching the virus closely as similar measures like bird culls may be needed again. Public health experts note that while human cases remain rare, rising infections in birds and poultry could affect food supplies soon. Stacks 92.1
