  • Lansing Bike Co-op gave away over 120 free bicycles Saturday at the Allen Neighborhood Center, fitting helmets + safety gear with support from volunteers. The annual holiday event, organized with community partners, marks its 10th year and aims to ease holiday budgets while promoting local cycling.  FOX 47

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Michigan farmers cannot spread or transfer manure from January until March 19 as ordered by EGLE to help protect waterways by reducing runoff (a rule that changes old winter practices).  WJIM AM

  • Michigan Amazon customers are warned to stop using recalled HydroJug children’s tumblers (serial no. 235010) and INIU power banks after reports of choking hazards and burn injuries.   • Michigan State improved its record to 2 to 0 on Dec. 13 when coach Tom Izzo started transfer Divine Ugochukwu, who scored 23 points, his best ever, to guide the Spartans to a 76 to 72 win over Penn State in State College.  Lansing State Journal
  • Teams from East Lansing, Sexton and Holt clinched wins at the Moneyball Tip-Off Classic on Dec. 13 at Don Johnson Fieldhouse. Kingston Thomas led with 15 points — Keyshawn Summerville scored 25 for Sexton and Mikah Williams added 14 for Holt — in close games.  Lansing State Journal
